A new Beginning

i)        I can smell you on my fingers,
on my lips and in my hair.
         I’m caressing fuzzy images,
         whenever you’re not there
ii)       Patiently I wait for you
          As the clock’s tick slows
I write clichés onto beer mats
         And tie straws into bows
iii)    It is sitting alone in a locked room
         Watching patiently as she ticks
Every second has been accounted for
         Every moment weighted
all I can do is wait and watch
contemplate the future and its end.
iv)    I’ve said too much,
         Been here too long
         I have to say goodbye
         Before we make mistakes
v)    We’ve stayed too long
         The air is getting stale
         The conversation has run dry
         We’ve stayed too long.
