The Holding Pattern (2006)
| This film is part of my full length play The Holding Pattern first performed at Towson University in 2006. After the final battle of the Angels, Lucifer surveys the battle site, only to discover a surprising revelation. In the play this sceen is loosely based on the line, "At sunset I fell in Lemnos, and but little life was in me" (Homer) Filmed on a single roll of Kodac film on a manual wind Bolex 16mm camera. Edited on a MacG5 using AVID. |

Lucifer Descendant (1:55) |
|
| This short film was also made for projection during my stage play The Holding Pattern, performed at Towson University in 2006. Lamb Descendant was projected on a screen at the back of the stage while the character of Lamb performed the same move on stage in the reverse direction. The effect produced a sickening distortion of visual imagery. The scene was a reference to the characters decent into madness or hell. Filmed using a handheld Panasonic PV-GS80 with 32x optical zoom on Sony Mini DV (DVM60PRL). Edited on a Mac G5 using iMovie |

Rinde Eckert Workshop (2007)
Part 1 (9:45)Part 2 (9:47)Part 3 (10:05) |
|
| Rinde Eckert, the 2009 recipient of The Alpert Award in the Arts for his contributions to Theatre and finalist for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Drama, is a writer, composer, performer and director. His Opera / New Music Theatre productions have toured throughout America, and to major theater festivals in Europe and Asia. In Fall 2007 Rinde was a Guest Artist at Towson University's MFA in Theatre Arts Program. Over 5 days students explored Rinde's methods of creating theatre, culminating in a short presentation. This film is that presentation. Although it is a perfect (by which I mean atypical) example of the latent difficulties in archiving theatrical performance on film, it is not included here as an example of film making but rather as archival footage of Rinde's creative process and products. For me Rinde's process is refreshingly akin to the British devised model ("collaborative creation" in the US) utalizing an auture leadership to create ensamble work. |
