My interest in film strongly influences my approach to playwrighting and directing. The more I work with new camera and editing technologies the more my writing and theatrical works are shaped by the differences, the idiosyncrasies and the aesthetic challenges of these mediums. If pressed I will admit that my interest is not in making theater or film but in creating work that lives somewhere in the absense that lies between.

Brokeback Mountain - Discussion Document
Early in my MFA theatre program, perhaps even before, I realized I had a strong allurement to filmatic imagery and the power of juxtaposition inherent in montage techniques. I enrolled in three film classes at Towson University as part of my graduate studies. These classes helped me to contextualize my intellectual admiration for the moving image while allowing me to explore film as both an aesthetic and as a medium of communication within my theatrical work. I explored documentary film techniques when commissioned to document WordBRIDGE2008 and new media advertising techniques for RBI Hornell. I consider myself to be an expert with Final Cut and Avid, unfortunately I have never even touched a Movieola or a Steinbeck.

David J. Glover is a multi-disciplinary production artist and academic. He holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Towson University, a post-graduate certificate in Information Technology and a degree in Theatre, Psychology and Integrated Arts. David was awarded the Bradbury Prize for Drama in 1997 and is a Fellow of the US National Critic’s Institute. He has worked in professional theatre in several countries and as a Production Manger on international cruise ships. Most recently he has been teaching at Alfred University, NY
Artistic Mission Statement
- Art is a functionless pursuit.
- The continued proliferation of which serves merely to highlight the futility of humanity’s continued existence.
- The best that any artist can hope for is to spend their time in such distraction that they do not become fully conscious of their own passing.

Academic Statement
-As life changes around us, so too do we change.
-We grow as artists and human beings; sometimes we are trees, sometimes weeds.
-The academic that I was when finishing my undergraduate degree is not the academic I was entering graduate school. The academic that I am now is neither of those iterations.
